Is The Peaceful Pack insured? Yes, The Peaceful Pack, is insured and bonded through Pet Sitters Associates.

How many dogs do you walk on your group walks? Our group walks are typically three to four dogs. The total number of dogs walked will not exceed each walker’s training level as determined by The Peaceful Pack.

Do you do individual walks? The Peaceful Pack, as our name indicates, is a big proponent of group walks. Group walks are not only a great way to socialize your dog during the day, but group walks satisfy your dog’s instinct to be part of a pack. We’re often able to integrate dogs into a pack that were previously only able to be walked individually. Is there a place for individual walks? Absolutely. There are some times that we might suggest individual walks to satisfy your dog’s particular needs, but our main goal is to integrate your dog into one of our peaceful packs.

Do you walk dogs rain or shine? “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" is the unofficial credo of the U.S. Post Office. Although they ‘might’ not always adhere to it, we do. Every client has not only 2-3 assigned dog walkers to their specific route, but also back-up dog walkers from the team to help out if needed. Rain, snow, even blizzard, we’ve done it all. However, we always consider what breed of dog you have and how much tolerance that breed might have to extremes of weather. In the event of extreme weather such as, but not limited to, temperatures above 85 degrees, low temperatures below 35 degrees, rain when the temperature is less than 45 degrees, or any storm considered dangerous, we will modify the walk if necessary. An example of this would be a French bulldog during a day when the temperature is above 90 degrees. Instead of a brisk walk as normal, we would take ten-minute stretches of walking and five minutes of rest time, for water and rest in a shady spot. Because their heat exchange capacity is less then other dogs, French and English Bulldogs, Pugs, Pekingese, or basically any dog with shortened upper respiratory passageways, are susceptible to overheating. Another example of an extreme condition would be a Chihuahua in a blizzard; anyone can see how uncomfortable a Chihuahua would be in a foot of snow. There are many other examples and weather conditions that can affect your dog's walk. Our rule of thumb is safety first, then adapt appropriately for the conditions. We'll be there when you ask, but we need to always ensure your dog's safety.

Some dog walking companies will not use harnesses. What's your take? We tend to encourage owners to use collars or similar devices for the neck as the primary way to guide a dog. Sometimes harnesses are appropriate if the dog has a medical condition that requires a harness, but we believe that collars work more effectively than harnesses for translating the walker’s message to the dog. Proper use of any device around your dog’s neck should not cause damage to your loved one. At The Peaceful Pack we do not have a strict policy for use of a collar or harness, but, if we find that your dog is not properly walking with his buddies, and he/she wears a harness, we will probably suggest that we use a collar for his/her walks. This transition from a harness to a collar when used properly tends to make communication between the dog and walker much clearer, therefore, more peaceful, which is our primary goal.

What are your hours for walks? We are open for walks from 9am-6pm Monday through Friday. We're not only available for regularly scheduled walks, but also help out when you might need sitting/boarding.

Do you offer transportation services? Yes, we offer transportation for our boarding services. For our New York City Boarding, depending on distance to your location, we can offer one way transportation included in boarding. If you’d like transportation both directions, we can provide this service during our regular walk hours and fee’s are similar to our walk rates and based on distance to your location. We also offer transportation to our Country Retreat on Mondays (12pm), Thursdays (12pm), Fridays (12pm) and Saturdays (10am). As a convenience for our clients we’re allowing drop-off at our sister company, The Canine Corner, starting when store opens on those days. Dogs being picked up will be allowed one hour grace period till 1pm (or later if you’re a The Canine Corner client and would like daycare services that day). It’s important to note that no transportation will be available to/from Country Retreat on major holidays. As travel to/from Country Retreat is via private van, we use dog harness/seat belt as well as travel crates as needed for your pets safety. We look forward to discussing details with you to assist and make your dogs stay as comfortable and convenient as possible.

Do you charge cancellation fees and are deposits required for services? Our dog walking services do not require deposit for booking but do require 24-hour notice for cancellations without charge. Dog walking services not canceled with 24-hour notice are subject to full service fee of scheduled walk(s) canceled. Boarding services require two full non-peak days as a deposit upon booking. Any services canceled 7 days or less prior to commencement of boarding are non-refundable. We can make exceptions for cancellations of services greater than 7 days prior to commencement of boarding and place as a credit to account to be used (no more than 90 days from original booking date) to re-book future boarding services. After 90 days from original booking, deposit will be forfeited and are non-refundable. We adhere to strict boarding cancellation/deposit policies as our boarding services are handled by owners of The Peaceful Pack and they arrange their personal schedules and lives around our boarding calendar.

Do you require pups to be on flea and tick medication? It is highly suggested that all dogs be on flea and tick prevention for waking services (although not required). It is required for all boarding services.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated for services? We follow requirement set by the NYC Department of Health and thus require all dogs to be current on Rabies vaccinations for all services. DHPP (distemper, hepatitis (adevnovirus), parainfluenza, and parvo) and Bordetella are additionally required for all boarding services.  Bordetella is required every 6 months or every 12 months as directed by your veterinarian. Please consult with your veterinarian to ensure your dog has the proper vaccine coverage. Puppies must have their full set of vaccinations before they are admitted for boarding; although we can conduct puppy visits and individual walks, as suggested by your veterinarian, until they are fully ready for group walks and/or boarding services.  A current copy of your dog’s vaccinations from your veterinarian will be required to schedule services.

What should I bring for my dogs boarding stay? We encourage you to bring something familiar for your dog’s boarding stay at The Peaceful Pack.  We have beds and bowls; however, a familiar toy or blanket is always a nice comfort from home. As there are other dogs around for our in-home boarding, we encourage you not to bring an irreplaceable toy. Toys are sometimes shared for playtime and might experience serious wear and tear (or destruction), as dog toys often do. One dogs cuddle toy (they’ve had since a pup), might very well not be respected as such by another dog during playtime. We also kindly ask that blankets stay in the standard throw blanket size (50x60 inch) and toys do not exceed 3 maximum. We do have transportation of belonging to/from our in-home boarding (and only so much space in our homes) and must keep things limited for that reason. We appreciate your understanding. And, of course, food required during their full boarding stay. We ask that you provide your dog’s food from home, as a random change in diet, can upset a dogs digestive system. An extra day or two, just in case, is never a bad idea either.

How do we get started? We start with a free in-home consultation to meet you and your dog(s), so we can assess your needs and you can meet us. Just give us a call or email and we'll get started.
